Matt Schroeder - Pastoral Intern
I grew up in Houston with a family of five. I was born into a family with Christian parents and church involvement my whole life. God saw fit to save me at an early age. My childhood and teenage years were filled with much immaturity, but God’s grace was certainly on me, growing me more and more into the image of His Son, Jesus.
My senior year of high school I mentored a group of freshman guys who were on the football team with me. It was through that experience God awaked in me the passion to teach and disciple other men. From that point on, I have felt a deep passion and calling to shepherd and love God’s people.
I went to college at Texas A&M University. I knew God was calling me to pastor and shepherd his people one day, so I wanted to make the most of my college experience. I majored in Speech Communications and minored in English. Through the local church and pastors at New Life Baptist Church in College Station, my love for God and maturity in the faith began to soar. I began to learn what it means to be a healthy church member and make the gospel the centerpiece of my life.
When I graduated from Texas A&M, I immediately moved to Dallas, TX to intern with a traveling Christian worship band. After my time was finished there, I moved back to Houston and began talking with Peter Swann about working together. I am currently interning at Hope Church, working with the children’s discipleship and various other tasks. I am blessed and honored to be serving in the capacity I am. I know it is going to continue to be a fun journey as I seek to serve Him faithfully, all for His glory!
